Counseling In Schools is seeking passionate and enthusiastic people to fill part-time hourly positions as After School Academic Lead Teaching Instructors at an elementary school in the Bronx.
In this role, Academic Lead Teaching Instructors are required to work with groups of elementary age children in a public school setting in the Bronx, NY during after-school program hours to facilitate lessons around their specific academic field of speciality (ie: ELA, Science, STEM, Culinary (related to Math), etc) Academic Instructors are expected to provide a safe and positive environment for the children with opportunities for learning, interaction and academic/personal growth.
Academic Instructors may also be requested to assist with homework help and occasional field trips.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Must have experience teaching academic material in academic settings to school age children
Must have a strong interest in working with youth, providing guidance and inspiration.
Ensure that age-appropriate activities are implemented for youth in grades K-5
Maintain a safe, healthy, supportive, and collaborative learning environment for students
Build positive relationships with youth and adults and serve as a role model with respect to demeanor, communication, behavior and community.
Model and uphold all agency and school policies and procedures
Facilitate daily lessons in academic specialty area for multiple groups of students
Skills/Knowledge Required:
Candidate must have a NYS teaching certificate
Energetic, passionate and responsible
Experience working with youth.
Experience working with Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) SACC programs preferred
Good communication skills, both oral and written.
Ability to facilitate academic lessons in a specialty area such as STEM, ELA, SEL, Culinary Arts (Math based), etc.
Schedule Logistics:
This is an hourly position (6- 15 hrs weekly)
Monday – Thursday/ On-Site
2:00 pm – 5:30 pm
Location: Bronx, NY
Additional Info:
Compensation: Hourly rate of $55.
60/hr
Candidate must clear a security background check and health screening from the Department of Education, Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) and Department of Health.
